Abstract: Evidence today shows the threat of rapid population growth, too many people searching for what they can obtain of the little food that is available. Uncontrolled population growth has a more-thank-average chance of yielding poor quality personnel, armed bandit, destitute unemployed and people with vices of all types. This paper x-rayed the Malthusian Theory of Population growth, Specifically it examined the causes of population growth, the consequences of population growth and ways of avoiding the consequences of population growth. It equally examines Malthus two postulations and his assumption of population growth. The paper concluded by reiterating the importance of Family Planning in addressing the problems of over population in Nigerian communities.
