Abstract: The difficulties associated with the procurement of construction equipment has been identified as one of the most influential problems facing the Nigerian construction industry This factors is identified in this work through literature survey and reviews some of the measures used in the past to stem the problem. Leasing, which can effectively address the shortage of medium to long-term finance (particularly for SMEs), remains underdeveloped, accounting for only 1% of total domestic investment in 1997? The further growth of leasing is hampered by the lack of a coherentbody of law to govern leasing. Suggestions on appropriate remedial measures are proffered
