Abstract: The fresh leaves of Ageratumconyzoidesafforded a pale yellow volatile oil of 0.08% yield, density of 1.0?ml and a refractive index of 1.55. Both the volatile oil and its isolated major constituent (precocene 1) produced remarkable larvicidal activities on larvae of Culex specie mosquito. While the volatile oil produced 100% mortality at a dose level of 15µl, 10µl of the precocene 1 gave 100% mortality. The results confirmed a wider use of A. conyzoides volatile oil an insecticide
