Abstract: This book consists of eleven chapters. In chapter one, the history of the oil industry is examined, while in chapter two, the ownership and control of petroleum in Nigeria is discussed in detail. The acquisition of oil rights beforeand after 1969 are discussed in chapters three and four respectively. The acquisition of oil rights under contractual joint ventures is the subject of chapter five. The transfer of petroleum technology and the Nigeria gas industry are also examined in chapters seven and eight. This text is a must for every researcher into the Nigeria petroleum industry.
