Abstract: Job satisfaction of teachers can be linked to teachers’ performance. The role of the teacher is important, if education is to be used as an instrument for achieving positive societal transformation and national development. This study was on job satisfaction among business studies teachers as a transformative education indicator in junior secondary schools in Edo State. The design of the research was ex-post facto. The study population consisted of three hundred and thirty (330) junior secondary schools in Edo South Senatorial District with one thousand one hundred and ninety nine teachers (1199). The sample was selected using the stratified random sampling technique. Thirty-three junior secondary schools (JS) representing ten percent (10%) of the population and two hundred and sixty four (264) teachers representing twenty-two (22%) of the population respectively were used. A questionnaire of thirty-three items, titled Teachers Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (TJSQ) was designed for the study. The reliability of the instrument was found to be 0.72. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentages, standard deviation, Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation, Analysis of Variance and Z-test. The major findings from the analysis of data revealed that there was a significant relationship between job satisfaction of teachers and variables such as gender, age, educational qualification, job experience, and marital status. Furthermore, achievement, recognition, advancement, work itself, social and administrative atmospheres and other benefits; significantly correlated with teachers’ job satisfaction. Based on these findings, it was concluded that teachers’ job satisfaction in public junior secondary schools in Edo State could be enhanced by educational administrators, if adequate attentions are paid to these dimensions. Specific recommendations, such as recognition for achievements, opportunities for advancement, challenging job design, conducive teaching-learning environment, adequate remunerations and other benefits were made.
