Abstract: The study looks at the quality of the teaching personnel with regard to meeting the quality standard of education in terms of quality of output. All secondary schools in 36 states of Nigerian federation and Abuja formed both the population and sample. Data were collected from Operation Reach All Secondary Schools which was a survey of the state of all secondary schools in Nigeria. The findings are that out of 222,238 identified teachers (62% males and 38% females) only 43.7% were qualified to teach in Secondary Schools in Nigeria. Only 13.48% and 20.72% of students passed with 5 credits including English and Maths in WAEC and NECO respectively. Based on the above findings, it is recommended that only people with teaching profession should be allowed to teach and Government should properly fund the secondary schools for better results
