Abstract: The land use changes in a rain forest ecosystem in Nigeria is interpreted and mapped from aerial photographs. The results indicated that within a decade, the ecosystems experienced drastic depletion of the forest lands, rapid territorial expansion of settlements and tremendous increase in agricultural farm lands. The result of the study is useful for the productive re-organization of the rural – urban space economy of the rain forest belt in Nigeria
